How to spend a off-season-day in a grey autumn day?

Kaisa Ilvesmäki-Jakobsen | October 30, 2011

These days, when stepping out in the door in the morning, it is not necessarily sunshine waiting for you :-( But most of the times we have this foggy autumn weather. But don’t get irritated or disappointed into the weather, go on with your alternate recover period training, like MTB in the forrest. It is actually fantastic way to keep yourself going and getting lots of fresh air at the same time

Even in the foggy weather the forest can look beautiful

Time to relax, how to do it after an Ironman?

Kaisa Ilvesmäki-Jakobsen | October 16, 2011

For me… spending a week after the Ironman the relaxing has not given bigger problems. There are so many exciting, new and also funny things to do on the island. But first of all the week has been very relaxing…

sleeping by the pool :-)

So.. how did I spent 10 hours 53 minutes on Saturday = Racereport Kona

Kaisa Ilvesmäki-Jakobsen | October 13, 2011

First of all………it went good.

In the goal after 10hours53 min

Top 5 women in 45-49 category

There is alwas many plans and dreams, and you go for them, and some works out, some not.
It is the total result, and it is TRIATHLON = you swim, you bike and you run. They all affect each others, and so I dont spend too
much time looking at each part in very small details.
My coach does, but that is more to learn, and that we agree what we can do better next time.
So ….
was I ready = yes, my tapper and preparation was good
did I race well = yes I think so. I reached the podium, and that is pretty f… hard in Kona. Here I also give myself credit, because of the top ten in my agegroup, all are 45 to 47 years old, except me…I am 48. And that means a lot to me in a race
did i make any mistakes……..no….I dont think so….not big ones………just tiny-little ones, and nothing that could have changed all.

Will I be on the stage/podium sunday night at the big awards ?????

Kaisa Ilvesmäki-Jakobsen | October 9, 2011

Yes I will…………..and I am very happy. Because it was a long way to get here, and as I have seen in life,
The more you put into a thing you love, the better it feels when you get there.

10timer and 53min, and podium spot is in the box!

Soon is the crunch time!!!

Kaisa Ilvesmäki-Jakobsen | October 8, 2011

Just 8 hours to sleep, time for breakfast, and 3 hours later the start goes, meaning at 19 Danish time and at 20 Finnish time. You can follow the race on the website www.ironman.com, and my BIB number is:

And the Bib number is ... !!!

Thank you for all the post I have got from so many of you. It has been a long way to reach all the way here I am now. I only have one goal, to give all I have, everything. To get to the startline is a goal in itself, but when I cross the finish line tomorrow, I know I have given it all. I know I cannot disappoint myself, because I am here, and I know the day is gonna be a fantastic day…even if I look like the guy behind me in this photo :-) :

Ready to rock'n roll, like the guys behind :-)

Talk to you soon again! Your support means so much!

I just love this sports!!!

Kaisa Ilvesmäki-Jakobsen | October 7, 2011

My “small” hobby is just something that inspires me, but not only the hobby in it self, but  also all the people around this sports.
Where ever I am, I meet happy and smiling people :-) I let the following photos tell you more :

Together with 6 time World Champion Natascha Badman

Natascha has, since I first time met her and her husband on Canary Islands, been one of those, that I have learned a lot about, in triathlon, and specially Ironman distances. Still she is racing in Kona, in the age of 45, as professional (lucky me… as she is in my agegroup :-) ) And she is ofcourse going for the first place. You see her always like in this photo : smiling!!!

6 days to go

Kaisa Ilvesmäki-Jakobsen | October 3, 2011

Training is done, now it is time for a good tapper, and when the race day is here, the body is screaming for activity :-)
Days have been passing by quickly; up with the sunrise, small breakfast, training, breakfast 2, resting, eating, resting and early to bed (not quite with the sunset as it is already around 18.15, but not far from that :-) )
Here some of Franks photo shoots from the last days training

Running with the boys Nikolaj and Morten, and it is pure fun!!!

on Hawis windy roads...!

Swimming on the route, just after the sunrise, no people and still quiet
