As my race season started pretty late this year, due to my injury, I decided during the summer to race in ITU worlds in China, and then the last race of the year in Phuket, as the plan was to be here for couple of weeks. Frank has been coaching his athletes Rasmus Petræus, Allan Steen Olesen and Patrik Nilsson, and I have been helping them in their nutrition. Has been great to see their development both in sports, but also foodwise… good triathletes!
So now it is time to race, for Frank’s PRO athletes, but also for me! Tomorrow at 6.47 are the age groupers starting the Challenge Laguna Phuket 1/2 Ironman, which you can follow live in this link . But hey, remember, in Scandinavia when you wake up the race is over, the time difference to Thailand is minus 6 hours
For someone it might sound pretty easy easy to race 1/2 Ironman, but I can tell you that this race is quite crazy, but maybe also interesting, and definitely different from the other races. Why?
The swim is done in the ocean, and third part of it in a laguna, with green muddy water
Bike is technical with many corners, walk over a highway on a bridge x 2, and 4 steep hills (up to 18%!!!) and downhills, so if it is wet roads, better to walk
Run is flat, but the temperature that here these days has got up to 35 celcius in the middle of the day, might give the racers a big battle…!
It is also warm in Kona, and there the race is full Ironman, but I tell you, this heat feels higher than Kona heat!
But all and all I am gonna enjoy, and have fun, as it is what I love : train and race triathlon.
And tomorrow I will go f###ing hard all the way
