We have a nice warm summer in Denmark, and all the Nordic countries. Lots of sun, heat and still late light nights, could not be better, specially for training point of view. Love it!
I specially love to run in the big park area, just next to my home, together with deers and other kind of ones. And the running is again feeling just fantastic.
What is great to see in Copenhagen area, there are so many runners. In the weekend mornings it is almost like arranged runs, as there are runners, joggers all over.. As I myself run mostly on the beach roads or park, I feel these are the popular places for others also.
There are some things good to think about when you are running in the hot summerdays:
– stay cool, don’t overdress, meaning put too many clothes on you. Shorts, short tights and just a running top, or short sleeves is great! Also in the morning…it is not cold, and specially not when you have been running 5min…
attention: one special point:
I SEE TOO MANY SPECIALLY WOMEN DRESSED IN LONG BLACK TIGHTS… why?
Because they don’t want to show their legs or to look good…..?
Well ….if you want to look good and be too warm, it is up to you, but it does not make your run the pleasure it could be.
If it is because you think you have to big legs or too white or……just Fu## it, it is your legs, be happy that they can run with you, and just learn to be happy about how you look, life is too short not to.
back to the run points
Look, the more you sweat, the more you need water and electrolytes during / after your run, depending how long you are running. So take it easy, enjoy the nice weather and keep yourself light during your runs
– take a small water bottle with you…just in case…even for 45min run. If you run in the morning, you have lost a lot of water from your body during the night, but also if you run in the evening and forgot to drink well enough during the day
– sunglasses or suncap are not bad ideas, the sun is strong, and between 11-15 you even need sunscreen…else you burn your skin…don’t do that
– in the end of your run…if you can…jump into the nice freshing sea… jump in, jump up, and jog home…and you feel like new person
Enjoy the nice late summer mornings and evenings… september is soon here… see you on the roads
