Only 5 weeks to go for the big day… Ironman World Championships… I am pushing with the last training, that can give me power for “the” day. Soon it is too late to push for getting more endurance or strength. Last week I was lucky to have an opportunity to train down in the Alps. The travel started from the high mountains, Alpe d’Huez, where I was with in the danish Cancer Associations project to bike up the wild 13,2 km climb of Alpe d’Huez. We were around 50 persons on the trip and not less than Michael Rasmussen was one of the bikers Great project all and all, collecting money for a good thing, the fight against cancer.
It is absolutely great training to ride about one hour in aerobic threshold pace, at the sametime as you are climbing upwards and really working hard with your leg muscles. This is what I did, and it was good. I can feel it… still It was also great fun, believe or not!
But the great fun was also to ride a Tour de France classic route Croix de la Fer and Col du Galibier… looooong day and fantastic views.
There is just so much to say, about having a great time when you do your Ironmantraining.
I love to mix up the steady and repeatweeks that I do when home in Copenhagen, and then go quazy on camps, where the culture, and places just inspire me to good training.
I believe that it is a sport I have chosen, to test myself, to compete, to stay strong BUT also to enjoy life. I must be a part I think, and it is up to myself to make sure that it is exciting and fun also.
Furthermore I found out that triathlon training camp does not always need to be on Mallorca or La Santa etc., but there is lots of fantastic training possibilities in France, this time we chose Chamonix, as we also know it from beforehand. The village under the highest mountain in Europe, is offering super running tracks; flat or mountains, you just choose, and great swimming in an outside 50 meter pool, one of the best views, when swimming Cycling is always easy, as you are on the mountains, if you want riding on the mountain roads.
And a great thing is a stable weather; blue skyes and sun!
The village is also very cozy, including lots of hotel possibilities as well as restaurants. One hotel choice could be for instance Langley hotel Gustavia in Chamonix center. Langley is by the way also arranging package tours to Chamonix , check more from www.langley.eu
And keep going with your training, the season is for sure not over yet!
