I think I have like 24 days for the race in Kona, I am in Denmark, the weather i more or less 20 degrees cooler than it will be in Kona, Hawaii, so the question is: can I prepare myself somehow for the extreme heat?
And the answer is very simple: yes I can!
Last time, when I was training for Hawaii, I had my riding heat sessions in the Copenhagen Zoo. That was great, but this year, saving a bit time, so instead of transferring myself to the other side of the town, I will try the heat sessions in my bathroom, turning the drying machine on, full of wet towels, it should give enough humidity for my session:-) Getting a feeling of being in hot and humid conditions
The other option would be training sessions in the sauna, BUT I have to admit, a bit difficult to get organized. So I just try being in the sauna instead. That is also giving a bit for the body, and I am doing the dry one and the humid one as well
And when training I concentrate in keeping my electrolytes in balance
Might sound quite crazy for some of you, but I really don’t want to suffer so much in Kona, as I know I will suffer anyway, even without the heat, so I try it all Sounds maybe also very serious, but yes, it is time to be a bit serious…
