A week in Helsinki
So how to spend time if you are in my homecountry Finland, and specially in Helsinki? Look at this:
So this is what all triathletes will spend time with, else it is good shopping in town
I like Helsinki in the summer time. In Finland there is lots of times beautiful weather; dry and sunny skies, and if you like swimming or triathlon, you can go to swim in the swimming stadium. This is what I always do, I love the place… 50 meters pool open from early in the morning at 6 am, closing at 9 pm in the evening, heated pool in the middle of the city, always place even it sometimes gets a bit crowded, as the lanes are so wide that you really have good space to swim anyway.
Above of swimming, the Finns are grazy for aquajogging, so the wide lane on the left is only for aquajoggers! And there are lots of them, most of them though are really jogging… slowly slowly… very slowly, some of them having a bit of exercise in it, and always a few really running And believe or not, I dont even feel to get bored when jogging there together with so many others, it is actually quite cool. And the belt you can just borrow from the pool, for free.
This stadium has existed in Helsinki since the Summer Olympics in 1952, and it is still a very famous swimming spot in the town during summer season. Fantastic! This is how I spent my week in Helsinki, in the pool
Swimming can also be included into your restitution training after an Ironman or half, do a week and just swim…swim even every day, and feel how your catch is getting better, and how your strength is growing
