For me… spending a week after the Ironman the relaxing has not given bigger problems. There are so many exciting, new and also funny things to do on the island. But first of all the week has been very relaxing…
What is then the correct way to recover well, when putting the body in a tough Ironman race? And to be able to continue training again in 4-5 weeks or even 1-2 months, depending your goals, without injuries and full of energy for a new season?
– First of all… first week… just soft sports… swimming is fantastic.. like swimming with dolphins Yes I know this is not too easy in Europe, but if your race was in Kona, you can do that !
– Second week… start riding on your bike again… low impact… no hard sessions… and jog in the end of the week
– enjoy your life, maybe like this :
I know you can even do this in Europe now, if you have a wetsuit… Learn this, fantastic for your mindset You can even have it as training form… feeling how the core and legs are under pressure…
– 3.-4. week keep your training still low impact, no hard efforts, just enjoy that you are able to do sports, soon it is crunch time again
One more important thing: remember your nutrition!!! Keep it clean and healthy like always, this is one way to speed up your recover
See you on the roads!
