In november it is time to look at the past year and make new plans for the coming year…
I am satisfied with my results in 2011 after having analyzed all the races carefully with Frank. I had a long season, and got in my races where I wanted to; podium in Kona! But lets see here whats up for me for the coming year?
By the way, if you did not make your plan yet… go ahead… there is though different points that you should look carefully when planning your coming raceyear:
1. look what fits together with your year. It needs to fit in with the jobobligations, family ho liday and celebrations, any other big projects ?
Don’t have your 2-3 months of most important training, at the same time as other big things.
2. can you train in the winter in the north ??? if yes, then the springtime races are ok as a top race.
If you don’t like to train in the winter, then maybe choose a late summer / autum race.
3. what are you strengths ?
If you are a super swimmer, and want to qualify to LasVegas or Kona, then choose a non wetsuit race like Cozumel ect.
That will give you a 5 to 10 min. advantage to the bad swimmers, maybe even more.
Or If you are a good technical runner, and you are not very tall and heavy, then choose a race with a difficult runcourse that has hills.
The same goes for cycling; are you light and tiny, go for the mountain races, if not, better to look at the flats
4. are you good in the heat, then race in the heat. If you are not, then find out if you are doing it wrong ??? or else don’t race in the heat.
5. and…….remember, that you need time to adapt to the time difference, so plan 1 day pr. hour that you are moving your timediff.
If you cannot get to the race 6 days before, when it has 6 hours of timediff to your normal place, the again consider if this race fits you.
So……look, and race where you can get advantage, then you have more fun.
And then……..this sport gives us the chance to race all over the world, and experience so many exciting parts in the world!
My plan is to have 2 main races in 2012; the first one in Germany, Roth in July, and the second in Florida in November. The goal is to get under 10 hours in Roth, and in Florida I need to qualify for the World Championships in Kona again in 2013.
In 2012 I would also race 70.3 on Mallorca and try to race for the slot to Las Vegas, World Champs. If I dont make it on Mallorca, I might try to do it in Switzerland, Zürich afterwards.
More that the 70.3 and 2 Ironmans, I will ofcourse try to race in Denmark in Danish Championships, as soon as I know the distances, as well as some shorter mintriathlons.
Good plan, and it is made to be followed Did you already make your raceplan for 2012??? If not… it is time…!!!
